Our Legacy
Pauoa Elementary has a long and proud history in the heart of Pauoa Valley. Founded in 1847, it is the third oldest school in Hawaiʻi, and for many years all lessons were taught in the Hawaiian language. Our campus sits on land once home to Queen Liliʻuokalani’s rose garden and lehua trees planted by Prince Kawānanakoa and Prince Kalanianaʻole.
Today, we honor that legacy by putting “Students first.” Pauoa is a small, caring school where every child is known, supported, and challenged. We focus on the whole child—academics, social and emotional growth, and strong character—so students gain confidence, love learning, and are ready for the future. #ThePauoaWay.
